I have worked in the domain of Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) for over 25 years, most recently in biopharma manufacturing since 2015 where my primary focus was on creating more quality success, as well as improving occupational safety outcomes. I also have experience in commercial nuclear electric generation, electric transmission & distribution, gas distribution, nuclear plant systems controls hardware & software integration, with a focus on safety and operations productivity.

HOP is a risk-based operating philosophy that recognizes error is part of the human condition -- and that an organization's processes, systems and culture greatly influence employees' decisions and actions. HOP is a formulation based on the decades of research and application of Human Factors & Ergonomics, System Safety, Cognitive System Engineering, and Resilience Engineering. Through systems-based thinking and HOP operational leaning, organizational performance can be improved.

Clifford Berry is the principal of Clifford Berry Consulting. He is the coauthor of the book Do Quality Differently: The Playbook for Creating More Success in Biopharma (Or Any) Manufacturing. Cliff has a M.S. in Occupational Ergonomics & Safety from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
